RSGB Contest Results 432MHz AFS 2013
v4.145 by G4CLA

432MHz AFS

This year’s contest saw a record entry level again.   29 AFS teams took part (same as last year), but these teams were made up of 74 individual entries as opposed to 66 last year.   The total number of entries was 82 including non-club entries, increasing from 72 last year.

Conditions were described as ‘poor’ and ‘flat’.   However, comparing the comments, things don’t seem to have been quite as bad as in 2012!

The 2013 contest was reduced by one hour to three hours, following requests from entrants in previous years.    From the comments it seems that some entrants liked the new shorter format and some didn’t.   The entrants that wanted a longer contest were generally towards the top of the table.    Several entrants also commented that the later start time had reduced the overlap with the F/DL contest.   The committee has taken note of these points, and will review the times for next year.

Clear winner of the G0ODQ Trophy this year was Trowbridge and District Amateur Radio club, making it three wins in a row.   Runner up was Spalding and District Amateur Radio Society, moving up from third place last year.

The Open section was won by David Millard M0MHZ/P, with Chris Parnell G0HFX/P in second place.

Richard Baker GD8EXI was the winner of the Single Operator Fixed section, beating last year’s winner Keith Tatnall G4ODA into second place.

The following entrants also receive certificates:

  1. Leading Foundation Station – Phil Willetts M6SRZ
  2. Leading Intermediate Station – Roger Rimmer 2E0BMO
  3. Leading Overseas Station - Frank Laanen PE1EWR
  4. Leading fixed station running less than 25W into single antenna – Richard Staples G4HGI

This was the final event in the 2012/2013 Super League series.
